Insurance assessments

We regularly provide engineering and building advice to insurance companies and loss adjustors on claims of damage to domestic and commercial properties. Over the years, we have advised on insurance claims involving damage from house fires, cracking, construction, water penetration, tree presence, concrete corrosion and cars crashing into properties, to name a few. Our experience also allows us to identify ongoing risks and hazards.

We are also able to respond to natural disasters, having undertaken engineering inspections after major events such as the 1989 Newcastle earthquake, the 1991 Sydney storms, the 1994 Sydney bushfires, the 1994 Cessnock earthquake (and others), the 1996 Armidale hailstorm and the 1999 Sydney hailstorm.

We are independent of all other parties, including contractors, architects, planners, insurers and government bodies. This ensures our assignments run smoothly and our reports are impartial, thereby avoiding any conflicts of interest.

Our scope often involves:

  • Identifying, assessing and reporting on likely causes of damage to properties and structures
  • Identifying and assessing damage from natural disasters
  • Preparing detailed scopes of work to rectify damage to properties and structures
  • Administrating rectification works carried out by building contractors
  • Assessing and certifying the quality and quantum of building and rectification works
